This is the true story…
I was born on March 10, 1984.
I still live in the city in which I grew up in southeastern Virginia.
I mostly reblog stuff around here, occasionally adding my own commentary. The posts that are actually mine are tagged #wishful goddess.
My boyfriend’s name is Ryan. We’ve been together since March of 2006.
I am a bibliophile. I read anything and everything I can get my eyes on. My favorite writer, and perhaps my favorite human to ever exist, is Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. My favorite book is Perfume by Patrick Suskind. I originally read it just because Kurt Cobain wrote a song about it. I loved it so much that I’ve read it a few more times since then.
I credit the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer with getting me through my adolescence. It premiered on my 13th birthday and it kept me sane for the next 7 years. I was never the dainty girl. I was never the cute, giggly girl. I never really fit in anywhere. Buffy made me feel like that was okay.
Some other television shows I dig are Jeopardy, The Mighty Boosh, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Daria, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, The Soup, and Tosh.0.
Since I was 15 years old, my favorite band has been Nirvana. Other music that I love is Tegan and Sara, Ben Folds (with or without the Five), The Strokes, silverchair, Ben Jelen, Butch Walker, The Marvelous Three, Letters to Cleo, The Ramones, Jason Webley, and a lot of other indie/alt rock.
I’m a grammar nerd. I think that the English language is astoundingly beautiful and it bothers me when people treat it with so little respect.
I am a former gymnast and I still love to watch and discuss gymnastics. I wish I could still do it myself, but I have several old injuries that give me chronic pain.
I am into tattoos and piercings. I have each ear pierced four times (two lobe and two cartilage on the right; three lobe and one cartilage on the left). I also have my navel, lip, tongue, and both nipples pierced. I have four tattoos. One is a dragon on my back. One is The Mark of Eyghon from Buffy on my left forearm. One is a quote, “busy busy busy,” from Kurt Vonengut’s Cat’s Cradle. My most recent one is a rose with a banner that says “In Bloom”, which is name of the song that made me a Nirvana fan.
I love old horror movies. Some newer ones are good, too, but the old ones are better. I love cult classics and really bad B-movies, too. Some of my favorite movies are The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Clueless, Annie, Dirty Dancing, Benny and Joon, Almost Famous, Arsenic and Old Lace, Edward Scissorhands, Donnie Darko, Newsies, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Labyrinth, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Real Genius, Repo! The Genetic Opera, The Secret Garden, and The Dreamers. That is an extremely abbreviated list. I won’t even try to name all of the movies I love.
To be continued…
